In December 2022 Glossop Parish Church of All Saints received the Eco Church Gold Award in recognition of our work to demonstrate that the gospel is good news for God’s earth through:

•  worship and teaching,
•  management of our building and churchyard,
•  engagement with the community and the wider world, and
•  lifestyle.

A key element of being an Eco Church is our management of the churchyard. We aim to make the churchyard a living sanctuary, not only for 'wildlife' by encouraging biodiversity but also for humankind as a 'green space' for rest and reflection. Our weekly Notice Sheets regularly signpost ways in which we can demonstrate that the gospel is good news for God's earth.

Some of the activities in which we have engaged since beginning our Eco Church journey in 2019 include:

• an annual celebration of Creation Season (1st September to 4th October);
• small group studies on what Pope Francis calls ‘Our Common Home’;
• using environmentally-friendly products in the church building;
• twinning the toilets in our church building and in the local CofE Primary School to promote safe sanitation in the Global South and joining in litter picks in the parish;
• promoting Fairtrade and environmentally-friendly products within our worshipping community; and
• supporting the Green Schools Programme of the Church of South India.
